I didn’t realise Dropbox could have control over these folders that I assumed were just on my Mac! I’ve lost everything including projects I’ve spent so much time on. Dropbox doesn’t even have a customer service phone number - I assume because they know they’d have so many complaints. It turns out that those folders were linked to Dropbox and uninstalling the program also removed every single file from my laptop. Very quickly, I realised all of my downloads and documents were gone from my Mac. Dropbox was taking up a lot of space but I checked the folder and it didn’t seem to have anything important in, so I deleted the program. Recently, I needed to clear some space on my Mac. I downloaded Dropbox a few years ago to keep some photos in.
