I didn’t realise Dropbox could have control over these folders that I assumed were just on my Mac! I’ve lost everything including projects I’ve spent so much time on. Dropbox doesn’t even have a customer service phone number - I assume because they know they’d have so many complaints. I’ve been on the phone to Apple for 2 hours, but they couldn’t help in the end as it’s a third party app. I’ve been into my Dropbox account online and none of my files are on there or on the ‘deleted’ folder. It turns out that those folders were linked to Dropbox and uninstalling the program also removed every single file from my laptop. Very quickly, I realised all of my downloads and documents were gone from my Mac. Dropbox was taking up a lot of space but I checked the folder and it didn’t seem to have anything important in, so I deleted the program. Recently, I needed to clear some space on my Mac. I downloaded Dropbox a few years ago to keep some photos in.
